“Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre’, directed and produced by Kunle Afolayan, was Owobo’s loud movie on the Nollywood scene where he portrayed the character of ‘Bashorun’, captivating the audience with flawless acting.

The six-part epic series tells the story of Saro (Played by Kunle Remi), a weaver who gains the power to resurrect the dead after an affair with a queen. Owobo plays Baṣhorun, one of the king’s chiefs who becomes Saro’s nemesis.

Born in London England in 1969 , who started acting in the late seventies, Owobo Ogunde is the youngest son of the iconic Hubert Ogunde, a pioneer in Nigerian theater. In the 1970s, Owobo demonstrated his acting talents by portraying Oriadekigbe in his father’s production “Aropin T’Enia” at Glover Hall, Lagos. His eldest son contributes another dimension to the illustrious Ogunde legacy.

Hubert Ogunde, his father, altered the name to Ogunde Theater Party in 1947 and Ogunde Concert Party in 1950. Eventually, in 1960, it became Ogunde Theater, a title that endured until his passing in 1990. He’s often hailed as “the father of Nigerian theatre” or “the father of contemporary Yoruba theatre.”

Hailing from Ijebu Ososa, Ogun State, Nigeria, he graduated from Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos, and embarked on his acting journey on the theatrical stage. His performances left a lasting impression on numerous stage plays and films.

Owobo Ogunde is married to Kehinde Ogunde, a lawyer and human rights activist. They share two children, adding a heartwarming dimension to Owobo’s narrative.
