Beyoncé Rumor Takes Internet by Storm After Country Album

During the Super Bowl LVIII, Beyoncé revealed she is releasing a country album—and fans are already theorizing that her release after that will be rock ‘n’ roll.

The singer said that she was finally dropping Renaissance: Act II, a follow-up to her 2022 studio album Renaissance, during a Verizon ad. A short time later, a teaser clip was uploaded to the performer’s Instagram account. In the video, a taxi can be seen driving into Texas while music plays over the radio, before Beyoncé can be heard singing: “This ain’t Texas, ain’t no hold ’em / So lay your cards down, down, down, down.”

Along with the announcement, Beyoncé dropped two new country singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages” and said her new album will be released on March 29. Beyoncé fans have been expecting an accompaniment to Renaissance since the first album was released, and the singer releasing a country album has long been speculated by fans online. Now people are already preparing for the pop superstar to drop a rock ‘n’ roll album in the future.

Bamitolamedia et Newsweek contacted a representative for Beyoncé for comment via email today Tuesday.

In July, Beyoncé said via her website that Renaissance would be a three-act project, which is what helped spur this idea. The first “act” was a house-music tribute, leading some fans to speculate that she was returning to genres that Black musicians had pioneered.

With the country album now guaranteed, there has been a lot of talk on X, formerly Twitter, about a rock record as well.

“The way Beyoncé is RECLAIMING genres started by BLACK PEOPLE! With her making Act I, House music, Act II, Country music, AND Act III, which we can assume will be Rock ‘n’ Roll music, she is showing EVERYONE that Black artists are the BLUEPRINT when it comes to these genres of music!” one person wrote.

“black people created house music. black people created country music. black people created rock music. BABY, THIS IS THE RENAISSANCE!” posted another.

“Wait…. This confirms act iii will be rock. Beyoncé said RECLAIM THE BLACK GENRES,” a third X user wrote.

Act 3 is going to be Rock and Roll. She’s claiming all the music that was once created by Black artist. She’s reminding everyone, we did that s*** first,” a fourth person posted.

A fifth added: “Act III is a rock album. I know it. I KNOW she calling Jack White up again. I KNOW she calling Paramore. I KNOW IT.”

This isn’t the first time that rumors have circulated that Beyoncé would be releasing rock ‘n’ roll music sometime in her career.

In July 2023, the PopTingz X account initially set Beyoncé fans alight with a post that read: “More insiders are reporting that Beyoncé’s Act II will be coming this year with the genre being Rock. Not 100% sure about the news but thought I’d share.” A discussion erupted in the comments, and the post also inspired a Reddit thread.

If the speculation ends up being true, this wouldn’t be the first time that Beyoncé has ventured into rock music. In 2016, she released “Don’t Hurt Yourself” on her sixth studio album, Lemonade. The track featured musician Jack White and contains samples of “When the Levee Breaks” a song performed by Led Zeppelin. The song was nominated for Best Rock Performance at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

Beyoncé’s country album is the long-awaited Part II of her 2022 Renaissance album. It was Beyoncé’s seventh studio album and was originally billed as Act I: Renaissance—implying future releases would follow suit. The album won her a record-breaking 32nd Grammy.
