Resignation: Lagos Assembly Passes Vote Of Confidence On Meranda
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have passed a vote of confidence on Speaker Mojisola Meranda following rumours of her possible resignation.
The Eden News reports that during today’s plenary, Oladipo Ajomale, a member representing Oshodi-Isolo constituency 2, moved the motion, affirming the assembly’s trust in her leadership.
The motion was seconded by Gbolahan Ogunleye, who represents Ikorodu Constituency 1.
Temitope Adewale, the majority leader then moved a motion to adjourn plenary indefinitely, and it was unanimously approved by the house.
Before this, security operatives had sealed the speaker’s office as her resignation rumors heightened.
Police and task force officers were also stationed in vehicles around the complex, with some patrolling the premises to maintain order.
Recall that Meranda became the first female speaker of the Lagos assembly on January 13, 2025, after Mudashiru Obasa was impeached while he was out of the country
