EFCC To Question Sadiya Farouq Over Alleged N37bn Fraud.
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is expected to question the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq over an alleged N37.1 billion fraud.
BAMITOLAMEDIA reports that the former minister, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari from August 2019 to May 29, 2023, was invited by the anti-graft agency last week following a probe that was launched into her activities in the ministry when she held sway.
She was being investigated over the sum of N37.1 billion that was allegedly laundered under her watch through a contractor, James Okwete.
She was asked to appear before interrogators at the EFCC headquarters located at Jabi, Abuja a week after but the ex-minister failed to do.
A source at the headquarters confirmed to Channels TV said the EFCC would question the ex-minister, adding that some other officials who worked with her had also been invited to provide an insight into how the affairs of the ministry were run in the last four years.
